I love this book! It is designed to reach a broad spectrum audience, and yet will speak to anyone with long term 12 Step experience. Herb K. has a simple but effective way of de-mystifying what the 12 Step process will offer for anyone on a path of personal and spiritual growth. It makes the 12 Steps accessible and user friendly even if the reader doesn't have a specific addictive issue. The Steps are a design for living well that can actually be traced through centuries of great spiritual thinkers and cultures. The founders of AA were able to distill thousands of years of human wisdom and happiness into a simple, easy to follow process that speaks to modern Western Civilization, and Herb K. has found a way to lead us through that process without being intimidated or frustrated. I have recommended this book to many of my friends and clients in the short time since I bought my own copy. In the beginning chapter on the purpose of the book, Herb states that this is about spiritual freedom. That sold it for me.

Was introduced to this book while in a 90 day treatment program and loved it. It spoke to me a lot better than other books. I actually bought it for my mom who is working through some of her own resentments. This book can be used as an instructional book for life itself. I wish so badly more would adopt the 12 step lifestyle because it's NOT only for addicts! It should be a way of life taught in schools! Anyway...amazing book. Anyone would benefit from it.
Just started using it so I don't know but the first few chapters are very good and very thought provoking. I am looking forward to working in it.

This is a huge work. The author is well read about the scope of the AA program and the Big Book of AA. He has put in a lot of effort into his works and can be congratulated on his efforts.
This is a great book for deepening and enhancing ones spiritual program . It's well organized and has a lot of references to the Big Book and the 12X12. This would be a great book study for a group or sponsor-sponsee.
